BECKVILLE — The Beckville Ladycats won a battle between ranked teams Friday, knocking off the Sabine Lady Cardinals, 3-1, and handing them their first defeat of the season.

Beckville, No. 2 in Class 2A, beat Sabine, then No. 3 in Class 3A, 25-6, 21-25, 25-21, 25-13 to improve to 12-1 for the season. Sabine drops to 10-1 for the season.

Amber Harris had the hot hand serving for the Ladycats racking up seven aces for the match. She also had 17 digs, three kills and an assist.

Avery Morris led the way in kills for the Ladycats with nine, while also picking up eight digs, two aces a block and an assists.

Allison Baker was the assist leader with 18, while also picking up seven digs, four kills and an ace.

Other standouts for the Ladycats included: Kinsley Rivers with seven kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces; Lindsey Baker with seven kills and a dig; Sophie Elliott with 12 assists, nine digs and two aces; M.J. Weatherford with two blocks and two digs; Hannah Sharpless with three digs; and Kaylee Fletcher with two kills.

The Ladycats were scheduled to face Gilmore on Tuesday at home.
