Tennis practice for returning players will start on Aug. 5 from 6-8 p.m. Monday thru Thursday until school starts.

Tryouts will be Aug. 1 and 2 from 6-8 p.m., for all new players enrolled or wanting to enroll in the tennis athletic period.

Cuts will be finalized by Aug. 16.

Bulldog tickets on sale Aug. 5

The start of two-a-days is just a little more than two weeks and time is fast approaching for fans of the state-ranked Carthage Bulldogs to purchase season tickets to see their team at home.

Season reserved section tickets for the 2019 season will be available at the Bulldog Fieldhouse beginning Monday, Aug. 5 – Thursday, Aug. 8; and Monday, Aug. 15 – Thursday, Aug. 18.

Tickets may be purchased from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Dawgs will have five home games this year; tickets purchased in advance sell for $8 each; therefore, each packet of reserved seat tickets will sell for $40.

Current season ticket holders will be offered first opportunity to exercise purchase options during the Aug. 5 through Aug. 8 period.

Current season ticket holders must pick up their tickets in person. If ticket holders cannot pick up their tickets during the week scheduled, please call Mamie Vanover at 903-694-7409, Ext. 1171 to arrange an alternate time.

If current ticket holders choose not to exercise their option, their tickets will revert back to the pool. Current ticket holders may not designate to whom tickets will be sold.

Available tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis beginning Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Bulldog Fieldhouse.

General reserve tickets will not be sold early.

The Bulldogs will be home on Sept. 6 to face Liberty Eylau; on Sept. 13 to face Marshall; Sept. 20 to face Gilmer; Oct. 18 to face Chapel Hill in the Homecoming contest; and Nov. 1 against Henderson.

Bulldog football camp Aug. 1-2

The 13th annual Carthage Bulldogs Football Camp will be held Aug. 1-2 at the school’s Multipurpose facility.

The camp is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. each day and is for incoming fifth graders through ninth graders. Campers will work on every phase of offense, defense and special teams.

Cost of the camp is $50 per child and $25 for another sibling. Campers will get camp T-shirts the last day of camp.

All campers will report to the Carthage High School Field House and should wear cleats (no metal) if available.

Football camp for moms Thursday

The Beckville Football coaching staff will be hosting the first Mom’s Football Clinic on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Beckville Gym.

The Clinic is open to any mom, grandma, aunt, sister, caregiver and avid football fan of any Beckville player grades 7-12.

Head coach Cody Ross will introduce his staff and provide information regarding practice schedules, game schedules, gameday agendas and any other information in regards to the football season.

They will also be showing and teaching participants the basics of the offense and defense the teams will be working on throughout the season, as well as the names of the positions and their responsibilities.
