Carthage’s Sawyer Smith will compete in the State All-Star game on June 19 at Dell Diamond.

Smith named to THSBCA 4A, 3A, 2A All-Star team

Recent Carthage High School graduate and baseball player Sawyer Smith was named to the South 4A, 3A and 2A All-Star team by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Smith made the team as a second baseman and is one of just 20 players that made the roster.

The South All-Stars will take on the North All-Stars on Saturday June 19 at Dell Diamond.

Bearcats named to All-District team

Beckville sophomore Colby Davidson was named the 19-2A Offensive Player of the Year for the 19-2A All-District team.

The Bearcats in all had five players garner first-team honors: junior pitcher Tyler Bran, sophomore catcher Daxton Etheredge, junior infielder Ryan Harris, senior outfielder Quinton Roberts and junior outfielder Karter Jones.

Junior pitcher Lance White was named to the second team as a pitcher.

Brady Davis and Cason Dodson were named to the honorable mention team for Beckville.

Etheredge, Jones, Davis and Davidson were all named to the All Academic All-District team.

The voting was done by the respective coaches in the district.

SOFTBALL

Lady Bulldogs earn All-District awards

The Carthage Lady Bulldogs, the 2021 17-4A champions, racked up the end of the season awards as well in District 17-4A.

Senior Karsyn Isbell was named Offensive Player of the Year and fellow senior Roo Harrison was named Pitcher of the Year. Coach Rob McFall was named Coach of the Year as voted on by the coaches in the district.

Seniors Natalee Dinnerville and Caroline Baldree, along with junior Ashton Jones, were all named to the All-District first team.

Senior Madison Reynolds was named to the second team while Kat Barentine, Jaycee Page, Tessa Smith and Jada Walton garnered honorable mention honors.

Isbell, Harrison, Dinnerville, Reynolds, Barentine, Page and Baldree, along with Erin Dodge and Alexis Plaisance, were named to the All-District Academic team.

Lady Bearcats earn regional honors

Beckville senior centerfielder Allison Baker was named 22-2A Region 3 co-Defensive Player of the Year. Baker shared the honors with Timpson’s Harley Ware.

Beckville freshman and second baseman Lexie Barr was named 2A Region 3 District 22 co-Newcomer of the Year. Barr shared the honors with Joaquin sophomore right fielder Julie King.

Beckville’s Reese Dudley, Kaitlyn Tillman and Haley Straubie garnered first team 2A Region 3 District 22 honors.

Beckville’s Aubrey Klingler and Hanna Hudson were named to the 2A Region 3 District 22 second team.

Voting was done by all the respective coaches in the district.
