Panola College Head Coach Aaron Smith added two final pieces to his recruiting class with the recent signings of Olaverr Camacho and Joshua Miller.
Camacho is a 6’8 Post from Guatemala. Miller is a 6’6 transfer from Collin College.
“We knew we had a lot of work to do with the vast majority of our players this past year being sophomores,” Smith said. “I am very pleased with the group we have coming in. I believe we have assembled a very good team that our fans and community will really enjoy getting behind.
“We have constructed the team to play the way I desire — which is very fast.”
Camacho prepped at Ribet Academy in California. Ribet was a top 10 high school program in the nation.
“Olaverr is a great addition for us,”Smith said. He has a great body, good athleticism and an elite motor. His ability to play hard, rebound and run the floor will prove to be major for our front court.
“I am looking forward to coaching him and helping him in his development.”
Miller averaged 8.0 points and three rebounds per game. He played in all 31 contests and started 24 games.
“I am very excited to add Josh to our signing class,” Smith said. “He brings much needed experience to our young team, and we will look for him to be a leader. Josh is extremely athletic and provides us with skill and length at the wing position. I’m looking for him to build on his freshman year and have an immediate impact for us.”
The Ponies will have just 33 games of experience from team members with Miller accounting for 31 of the games.
Panola was 19-12 last year in Smith’s first season at the school.
