TEXARKANA — Kristen Stewart had a double-double and several teammates were close to matching that as the Carthage Lady Bulldogs dominated the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks Friday in non-district volleyball action.

The No. 5 Lady Dawgs won 25-18, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20 to improve to 30-4 for the season. They will put their 2-0 District 20-4A mark on the line Tuesday when they play Huntington.

Stewart finished with 39 assists and 15 digs for the double-double and also added four blocks, three kills and two aces,

Cami Hicks had 15 kills, six blocks and three aces; Jada McLin had nine kills, five digs and two blocks; Faith Kruebbe had eight kills, 11 digs and two blocks; McKenna Zett had 21 digs, six kills and an ace; Chesney Baker had 15 digs and Addi Surratt had 10 digs.

Beckville finishes first half unbeaten

BECKVILLE — The No. 12 ranked Beckville Ladycats claimed control of the district lead at the midway point Friday by sweeping past No. 6 Timpson on Friday in a battle of District 20-2A unbeatens, 25-17, 25-13, 25-18.

The Ladycats jumped to No. 10 in the poll and are now 25-13 for the season and 6-0 in district, while Timpson is 5-1 in district and fell from No. 6 to No. 14.

Sophie Elliott had 19 assists and nine digs, and Allison Baker finished with 18 assists, 11 digs, six kills and two aces for Beckville. Lindsey Baker chipped in with three kills; Kinsley Rivers 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks; Avery Morris seven kills and four digs; Kaylee Fletcher one kill; Gracen Harris eight digs; Miranda Mize seven kills, five digs and three blocks; Amber Harris six aces, six digs and three kills; and Macy Davis one kill.

Lady Bobcats keep pace with sweep

GARY — The Gary Lady Bobcats finished up the first half of their district schedule with a three-set sweep of visiting Shelbyville on Friday.

Gary won 25-13, 25-10, 25-8 to improve to 4-2 on the season in District 20-2A.

They are open Tuesday and will host Beckville on Friday.

Mize, Rivers share top player honors

For their efforts last week in pair of District 20-2A wins, Beckville’s Miranda Mize and Kinsley Rivers share East Texas Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played Sept. 30-Oct. 5.

Mize finished the week with 11 kills, seven digs, seven aces and four blocks, and Rivers had 16 kills, nine digs, five aces and three blocks as Beckville knocked off Garrison and Timpson in straight sets.

■ Carthage had several of its players nominated as Cami Hicks had 25 kills, 10 blocks and three aces. Teammate Kristen Stewart finished the week with 54 assists, 18 digs and four blocks, McKenna Zett had 25 digs and 10 kills and Jada McLin finished with 15 kills.
