MARSHALL — The Carthage Lady Bulldogs got their soccer season off on a winning note Tuesday, grabbing a 3-1 win over the Marshall Lady Mavericks Tuesday night on the road at Maverick Stadium.

The Lady Dawgs did the damage midway through the opening period, getting a pair of quick goals in a 10-minute period to put the game away.

Melissa Garcia got the first goal and Cynthia Lopez followed to give Carthage a 2-0 lead.

Carthage led 2-1 at the half.

Garcia would score again in the second half with about 15 minutes left and the Lady Dawgs got back on the bus with a 3-1 win.

Carthage, is 1-0 under new coach Jason Whatley and is playing in the Waskom Tournament over the weekend.
