A luncheon at Panola College Tuesday served two purposes.

It gave Carthage a chance to honor the Panola College rodeo team for winning the team title at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, last month.

It also gave Panola coach Jeffrey Collins a chance to thank the school’s administration as well as the community as a whole for all the help they give his program.

“So many people do so much for the program that it overwhelms me,” said Collins. “Nobody has to like Panola College, but every time I turn around, someone is feeding us or doing something for us. WE can’t thank you enough.

“What these kids did was amazing.”

Gregory Powell, Panola College President, read the Resolution that was presented and approved by the school’s Board of Trustees at it’s last meeting.

Also, Carthage Mayor Lynn Vincent presented Collins with the key to the city.
