BECKVILLE — Ryan Harris had a double-double and was one of three Bearcats in double figures as they stopped the Chireno Owls 66-56 Tuesday.

Harris finished the contest with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while senior Abram Hairgrove finished with 13, hitting 7 of 10 free throws.

Freshman Matt Barr hit three 3-points and finished with 12, while junior Elijah Ramsey had nine points and five assists.

The Bearcats return to action Friday at home against LaPoyner.

Ladycats start the week with 2 losses

The Beckville Ladycats lost a pair of games this week, dropping a close 47-44 decision to Longview HEAT on Monday, then getting thumped by White Oak hon the road Tuesday, 48-17.

Against the HEAT, a team made up of home-schooled players, The Ladycats stayed close, but just couldn’t make enough of a run in the fourth quarter.

They trailed 13-10 after one quarter and 23-18 at the half. HEAT was up 39-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

McKinna Chamness led Beckville with 14 points, five rebounds and wo steals, followed by Miranda Mize with 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists, Amber Harris had eight points and Haley Straubie had five.

Against White Oak, the home team broke open a close game with a 19-3 second quarter to put the game away.

Chamness had seven points and three rebounds, while Raegan Greer had six points and two steals for Beckville.
