HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas — The Panola County Elite softball team had to put in a little extra work against a familiar foe, but it didn’t keep them from reaching their goal.

The Elite beat the Hallsville All-Stars in the “if necessary” game 14-9 Friday night to claim the FASA 6U World Series title at Hamilton Park.

It was the third straight game for the Elite against the All-Stars as they won the first one 14-11 and lost the second game 18-16, which forced the third meeting.

The Panola County team opened bracket play on Friday with a 17-16 win over the Pink Titans from Mount Vernon.

The Elite, which finished second in district and won the state tournament, went undefeated in pool play, beating the Pink Titans 23-16, dominating the JGA Royals 17-6 and stopping the Shotcallers 21-7.

Two members of the team won individual competitions as Demi McAlister was the winner in Catcher Pop Up Time for the whole 6U division and Kensley Dickerson was the winner in pitch speed for the whole 6U Division.
