TEXARKANA — The Carthage Bulldogs won an abbreviated version of the Watty Myers Relays Thursday at Texas High School thanks to some strong performances in the hurdles.

The field events were canceled because of wet conditions. and not all results were available at press time.

The Dawgs finished with 119 points to easily outdistance Texas High with 87, Hallsville with 80, Liberty-Eylau with 40 and Atlanta with 44.

Carthage’s Myles Halton was runner-up for High Points Male in the meet as he finished with 22 points.

Halton won the 300-meter hurdles in 40.09 and was second to teammate Jai Barger in the 100-hurdles in 15.78. Barger won the event with a 15.20.

The only other individual win for the Dawgs came in the 400-meter dash where Ja’Kaldreick Williams won in 51.62.

The JV Bulldogs finished second to the host school in a close battle, 74-71.

The Bulldogs are schedule to run at the Mount Pleasant Meet next Thursday.
