HUNTSVILLE —The Carthage boys cross country team finished fourth overall Monday at the Region III-4A meet at Kate Ross-Barr Park to qualify for the UIL State Meet in Round Rock.

Senior Eric Canada finished fifth to lead the team to the Nov. 9 meet. He qualified as an individual last season.

Sophomore Carlee Linebarger of Gary did that as well in Class 2A, finishing third over the two-mile course in 13:37.1.

Hillsboro won the Region III-4A Meet with 67 points, followe by Palestine with 116, Huffman Hargrave with 129, Carthage with 147 and Midlothian Heritage with 156.

Canada was clocked in 16:59.8 over the 5K course, while teammate Marc Hanks was 13th in 17:13.6.

Nestor Hernandez was 22nd in 17:53.8, Cody Miller was 69th in 19:11.2, Miles Powell was 93rd in 19:36.3 and Neil Bahkta was 124th in 20:29.4.

Zee McGrue was the only Lady Bulldog to run at the meet and she finished 44th in 13:46.3.
