Carthage’s Rayne Brooks is again burning up the summer track program, qualifying and competing at the TAAF Summer Games Track and Field Meet in College Station.
It’s the third time in four summers running track that the 11-year-old qualified for the Summer Games.
A sixth-grader at Baker Koonce, Brooks ran a 13.79 in the 100-meter dash in the regional meet at Pine Tree High School to qualify for state.
At College Station, she was 14th out of 42 in the 12-and-under age group.
Her best time of the summer was a 13.25, which is close to getting on the area track leader’s list for high school athletes.
Brooks ran the 200-meter dash last year.
She ran unattached this summer because Carthage didn’t have a team, but Blake Hunter of Longview worked with her for the second straight summer.
