WASKOM — The Beckville Bearcats took care of business Thursday in the first round of the Waskom Baseball Tournament.

They pounded out 12 hits and combined for 16 RBIs, opening the tournament with a 17-3 win over the Joaquin Rams.

The Bearcats (6-4) were scheduled to take on Winona on Friday afternoon and Waskom on Saturday.

Quinton Roberts picked up the win for the Bearcats as he pitched 3.1 innings, giving up three runs, just one earned, while striking out three and walked five. Kolby Davidson finished off the game for him.

Beckville scored in all four innings, but did the most damage in the third as, scoring eight times off several Ram pitchers.

Matt Barr was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Daxton Ethredge was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Colter Klinger had a triple and two RBIs, Roberts had a double and two RBIs and Tyler Bryan drove in a team-high four runs.

No. 3 Dawgs, Wade burn down Atlanta

ATLANTA — The No. 3 Carthage Bulldogs went on the road for another win Tuesday night, knocking off the Atlanta Rabbits 7-2.

The Bulldogs (9-2) have won four straight and are scheduled to play on the Tri-State Invitational this weekend in Benton, Louisiana.

Sawyer had a two-run double in the second that helped the Dawgs take a 3-0 lead.

Mason Bob scored on a passed ball in the third to make it 4-0 before the Rabbits got to relief pitcher Connor David in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-1 game.

Carthage put it away in the top of the fifth as Bobo and Jackson Blissett both singled to lead off the innings and both eventually scored on a double by Dylan Leach.

Leach would score on a groundout to make it a 7-1 Bulldog lead.

Bobo came on in relief in the seventh and was credited with the save.

Blissett was 3 for 4 to lead the Dawgs at the plate, while Bobo was 2 for 4, Noah Anderson was 2 for 3 and Smith and Leach both drove in a pair of runs.


Lady Lions slip past Lady Bulldogs, 3-0

HENDERSON — The Lady Lions pushed across a couple of early runs and Henderson’s Madeline Wells made it stand up as she threw a 3-0 three-hit shutout against the Carthage Lady Bulldogs Tuesday.

Carthage (11-11) was scheduled to play at Palestine on Friday and at Pittsburg next Tuesday.

Karsyn Isbell, Kat Barentine and Madison Reynolds all had single for the Lady Bulldogs.

Isbell took the loss as she was touched for seven hits, while striking out five and walking one.

Moriah Guellero drove in two runs and Charli Bird and Wells both had two hits for the Lady Lions.
