The Beckville Ladycats pose with the trophy they won at the Nacogdoches Central Heights volleyball tournament over the weekend. The Ladycats went 6-0 in the tournament and avenged their only loss of the season.

NACOGDOCHES — Lindsey Baker was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and Allison Baker joined her on the all-tournament team as the Beckville Ladycats swept their way to the Central Heights team title over the weekend.

After going 3-0 in pool play, Beckville beat Centerville 25-22, 25-4; beat Westwood 25-20, 25-19; and then avenged their only loss of the season by beating Central Heights, 25-23, 22-25, 25-11.

Lindsey Baker had a big tournament with 16 kills, a dig and a block, while Allison had 17 digs, nine kills, 34 assists, nine kills, and two over.

Other top performers for the Ladycats were: Miranda Mize was 17 kills, 13 digs, three aces, two blocks and one assist; Sophie Elliott with four aces, nine digs and 29 assists; Kinsley Rivers with nine aces, nine kills, 12 digs, two blocks and two assists; and Avery Morris with 11 kills, seven digs and one block.

Also, Hannah Sharpless with four digs; Kiyah Wellborn with two kills and three digs; Kaylee Fletcher with one dig and one assist; Gracen Harris with three aces, one kill, 21 digs, and one assist; and Macy Davis with three kills, two digs and one block.

The second-ranked Ladycats are now 6-1 on the season and will again step up in classification taking on Longview and Henderson at Henderson on Tuesday.
