Andy Malone, who won 861 games and a couple of state championships in a 41-year high school baseball coaching career, died late Friday in Marshall — just 17 days shy of his 80th birthday.

AUSTIN — The University Interscholastic League is extending its suspension of all UIL sanctioned activities due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Texas.

HALLSVILLE — Posting singles in the second and fifth proved enough as the Carthage Lady Dawgs notched a 2-0 shutout of the Harmony Lady Eagles here Saturday morning.

LONGVIEW — The Carthage Bulldogs rebounded strong from a tournament-opening loss to host Spring Hill on Thursday with three straight wins over the weekend.

The Carthage Bulldogs made a pretty big splash on the track over the weekend, running away with the title at the Watty Myers Relays in Texarkana on Thursday then getting in a little jumping at Longview’s Lobo Relays.

DIBOLL — A late miscue of a goal kick with just over a minute left in the contest cost the Carthage Bulldogs as they dropped a 2-1 road decision to the Diboll Lumberjacks on Tuesday night.

SHREVEPORT, La. — Dancell Leter and LaMarcus Donahue combined for 43 points, and No. 9 seed Jacksonville opened the Region XIV Conference Tournament with a 100-92 win over No. 8 Panola Tuesday in the first round in Centenary College’s Gold Dome.
