CARTHAGE-Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nell Railey Smith, 60, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in the DeBerry Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mary Nell Railey Smith was born January 19, 1959 in Carthage, Texas. She passed this life peacefully January 13, 2020 at her Carthage, Texas home. She was one of three girls born to the marriage of J.W. and Sarah Emiley Yates Railey. She was raised and schooled in Elysian Fields graduating with the Yellow Jackets high school class of 1978. Mary married Leslie Rickey Smith March 16, 1999 and together they celebrated over 20 years of marriage.
Mrs. Smith worked in banking as a teller for many institutions, Youngblood Mechanical and Elysian Fields I.S.D. as a secretary. Mary was known for her smile and giving sugar. She loved to shop, spending time at the family lake house, horse riding, and dancing. She is preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Geraldine Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her devoted husband, Rickey Smith of Carthage; children, David Youngblood of Carthage, Jacy Youngblood Willis and husband, Bo of Carthage, Kagen Smith and wife, Stephanie of Katy; sisters, Linda K. Marcum and husband, Jerry of DeBerry, Janice Reed and husband, Robert of Beckville; grandchildren, Dylon Youngblood, Korigan Youngblood, Peyton Willis, Carsyn Willis, and Kason Smith; father-in-law, Millard Paps Smith of Carthage; special friends and caregivers, Lisa Hodges, Diane Brice, and Cindy Roberts; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Smith, Kagen Smith, Brad Williams, Justin Marcum, Randy Milam, and Brian Reed.
Special thanks to Heartsway Hospice, and Dr. Robert Wessman's Office and staff for the care given to her and family.
