CARTHAGE-Funeral services for Mrs June Barnett, 86, of Carthage, Texas were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Adams Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
Mrs. June Ethel Farris Barnett was born December 15, 1933 in Carter County, Missouri. She passed this life January 14, 2020 in Carthage, Texas. June was born to the marriage of Toney Elmer and Mary Francis Johnson Farris. She was raised and schooled in Missouri and put herself through business school there.
She married James W. Buddy Barnett November 7, 1953 and they celebrated 45 years of marriage and raised six children in a loving home before he preceded her in death in 1998. June was a bookkeeper and Tyson Chicken farmer.
Mrs. Barnett was a longtime devoted member of the Galloway United Methodist Church, and the Joaquin Chapter of the O.E.S. She was a talented gardener, cook, and seamstress. She is also preceded in death by her parents, many siblings and a son, Bobby Barnett.
Mrs. Barnett is survived by her devoted children, Maurice Ray Barnett and wife, Norma of TN, Billy Barnett of Galloway, James W. Barnett, Jr. of Flatwoods, Pat Barnett of Flatwoods, and Mary Pierce and husband, Everett of DeBerry; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers were, Chance Pierce, Matt Morris, Stuart Lee, Bobby Barnett, Chris Williams, Casey Jones, and Jerry Gardiner.
