Survivors include her son, Joe Lynn Reed and wife, Jodie of Beckville; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Reed of Beckville; sisters, Vallie Allen of DeBerry, Billie Lee and husband, Sam of Willis, and Elizabeth Rogers and husband, Walter of Willis; grandchildren, Kelly Reed-Hirsch and husband, Michael and Joe Randall Reed and wife, Kim; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Preston Reed, Chase Allen Reed, and Reed Marshall Hirsch. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Reed.

CARTHAGE-Dorothy Reed, 93, of Beckville, passed away on Monday night, January 15, 2018, in Carthage. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Flanagan officiating. Interment followed in Rock Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Randall Reed, Michael Hirsch, Robert Reed, Eddie Reed, Don Smith, and Bobby Phillips.
Dorothy Alice Hill Reed was born on October 31, 1924, to the late Robert Phillip and Essie B. Furrh Hill. She was married to Allen Preston Reed for over 50 years and he preceded her in death in 2004. During WWII, Mrs. Reed worked in the shipyards in Tacoma, WA. She lived her lifetime in Panola County and was a charter member of the Grand Bluff Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Mary Sue Hill Briggs.
