CARTHAGE-Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Becky Crawford, 78, of Carthage, Texas were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Waldrop Cemetery with Dr. Allen Tilley and Rev. Dock Lazarine officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rebecca Jo Williams Crawford was born June 24, 1942 on the family farm in Brooks Community of Panola County, Texas. She passed this life October 12, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. Becky was the youngest of three children born to the marriage of Rev. John Hill and Lucille Mangham Williams. She was raised in Brooks Community graduating Carthage High School with the Bulldog class of 1960. She graduated Texas Eastern School of Nursing obtaining her R.N., Tyler Junior College, and UT Tyler obtaining her Bachelors of Science and Nursing.
Rebecca married the love of her life Rapheal William Crawford, Jr. July 13, 1958 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage and three sons. Mrs. Crawford worked at UT Tyler, Athens ETMC, and many years for Panola General Hospital as director of nurses, as well as many mission teams across the globe.
Becky was a member of the First Baptist Church over 60 years, teaching the Friendship Sunday School for many of those years. She loved painting, crafting, sewing and quilting, travel, mission work and gardening. Becky is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clint Crawford; and two brothers, Norvil and Gene Williams.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by her devoted husband, Rapheal Crawford of Carthage; sons, Corey Crawford of Carthage, Curt Crawford and wife, Tesa of Carthage; grandchildren, Holli and Steve Dear, Carley and Chris Fugler, Kirstyn and Jason Jacks, Robby and Shelly Crawford, Jon and Nicole Crawford, and Bambi and John Mark McAffe; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
