A northeast section of the Loop in Carthage will be resurfaced in the coming year, the Texas Department of Transportation said.
A 2.2-mile stretch of the Loop, from U.S. 59 North to U.S. 79 East will have its old pavement removed, base materials strengthened and its roadway repaved, TxDOT said. Work on the project should begin in September of this year and take about 15 months to complete, TxDOT said.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane each direction while the construction work is being conducted.
Plans were approved in July for that stretch of U.S. 59. Longview Bridge and Road of Longview was awarded a $8.9 million bid.
