Tyler Brady has been named the 2019 valedictorian with a grade point average of 4.0 and a weighted GPA of 4.2701.
Brady is the son of Ray and Randi Brady and the grandson of Tom and Pat Wedgeworth and Pete Brady.
He plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University and major in biology.
During his time at Carthage High School, Brady was student of the month and recognized in student spotlight. He participated in National Honor Society, Key Club and band. He was a regional qualifier in UIL academics in science and placed third at region in calculator.
In his spare time, Brady volunteers with Relay for Life, S.A.L.T., National Honor Society, CMBC Youth Group, the Samaritan House and Mission Carthage.
Emily Pyle has been named the 2019 salutatorian with a grade point average of 4.0 and a weighted GPA of 4.2686.
Pyle is the daughter of Carl and Annette Harris and the late Vincent Pyle and the granddaughter of David and Kay Pyle and the late Celia Pyle, as well as the late Dale Flippo and Helen Flippo and the late Carol Flippo.
She plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in marketing.
During her time at Carthage High School, Pyle was a three-year regional qualifier in UIL Academics, academic all-district volleyball in 2017, honorable mention all-district volleyball in 2017, academic all-state volleyball in 2018 and was recognized in student spotlight. She participated in the drill team for four years, two of those serving as lieutenant. She was a volleyball player, UIL Academics competitor and discus player for all four years.
In her spare time, Pyle volunteers with the Carthage Main Street Youth Advisory Council, Key Club, National Honor Society, Bulldogs for Christ and Special Field Day. She is an active member of the Central Baptist Church youth group, Wednesday night youth praise team and Sunday morning worship praise team.
