Blake Holland was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Panola County Retired School Employees Association.

Holland was introduced by Toni Biggs. Blake is a Carthage native who now resides in Tyler where he is a news anchor/reporter for KLTV Channel 7. He gave a history of his love for reporting the news with pictures from his childhood. Several of his former teachers were in the audience. He also shared his history of working with Jerry Hanszen at KGAS radio. He rode his bike to the station because he wasn’t even old enough to drive a car. He came back to East Texas after graduating from North Texas University and began his career at Channel 7 where he met his soon to be wife, Erika, who is also a news anchor. They were married this past summer. Everyone enjoyed his entertaining program.

The next meeting will be Dec. 2 at 12 p.m. in the Murphy/Payne room at Panola College. It will be a luncheon with musical entertainment by Olatunde Covie. The luncheon will be $16 payable at the meeting. Reservations were to have been made by Monday, Nov. 29.
