The Inter-Community Volunteer Fire Department hosted a National Night Out event at their fire station Tuesday night, inviting the community to learn about their neighborhood firefighters.

Fire Chief Nick Morton said this was their first ever National Night Out.

“It’s something we’ve been wanting to do for years, and we finally put it together,” he said. “We just want to start doing better with community involvement. We want to get the people up here to see what we do, see our tools and equipment, and also see the agencies that help us — the Sheriff’s Office, the Constables office, the Forest Service, all these different agencies that work side by side with us to get this job done. So we just wanna have the time to invite the public in, feed them, let them have a good time, look around, and more than anything, just meet us, meet your local guys that are coming to your rescue if needed.”
