The City of Gary has passed a budget with a revenue of $11,376.12.
Gary did not levy a city tax rate.
City Secretary Pam Woodfin said the city, which owns Gary Natural Gas System doesn’t have a lot of money, but what it does have it gets from right of way payments from different companies, and then every quarter they get royalty payments for Byrd Park.
The revenue over expenses for the budget is about $4,741.12, Woodfin said, which is a jump from last year’s $1,649.95 revenue over expenses.
Woodfin says the money in the budget goes two ways — a monthly donation of $255 to the Gary Volunteer Fire Department and maintenance of Byrd Park, which varies. Woodfin says it runs about $825 a month during the summer.
