East Texas Fireworks joined the Panola County Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting Wednesday morning.

The fireworks stand opened June 24 and will continue through July 4, with hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Those who visit in the first week can get 10 percent off their purchase, owner Jerry Nicks said. They also offer specials, including buy-one-get-one-free, buy $20 worth and get a free firework, and $5 grab bags.

Jerry Nicks is also chairman of the Child Evangelism Fellowship and offers flyers for the organization at the stand, he said.

“What we do is we teach Bible classes to the kids after school, and then we also preach the Gospel to them,” Nicks said. “A lot of our children are un-churched, and so we’re ready to reach them. But we know there’s a lot of good families here, and so you probably don’t see as much here, but they still do come from time to time. And at Christmas and summer programs too, but it’s after school programs for kiddos. We’ve got brochures here, and you can also donate at the stand or you can go to the website.”

The fireworks stand is located at 1659 Texas 149 outside Carthage in Riderville.
