March 16 is the last day to elect either the Farm Service Agency’s Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage programs.
Producers who fail to enroll for either program will be ineligible to receive a payment for the 2019 crop year, the FSA said.
ARC and PLC provide financial protections to farmers from substantial drops in crop prices or revenues. These programs cover 20 commodities produced in the U.S.
More than 1.7 million producers are expected to enroll, with the Farm Service Agency saying 36,433 farms out of an expected 87,593 have completed enrollment as of Feb. 3.
The Farm Service Agency offers online tools to help producers make a decision as to which program they should enroll in. Visit www.fsa.usda.gov/arc-plc.
