Carthage Service League members are preparing to reopen the Thrift Shop on the downtown square with all new fall and winter merchandise on Monday, Oct. 4.
The week before the reopening, members were busy with sorting, cleaning and restocking the entire store. Co-managers Betty Kasper and Cherie Gibert oversaw the entire process.
League members began a new year with a dinner catered by Bert Ann Johns at Central Baptist Church Family Life Center recently. Newly elected president Debbie Jernigan presided, and new yearbooks were distributed by Vice President Jo McMillin. Secretary Kay Williamson and Treasurer Linda Howard will continue their duties while a new corresponding secretary Janet Humber joined the Executive Board.
A Sammy Brown Library report was given by Lacy Jones in which she highlighted the summer activities and previewed the fall promotions.
The window decorations for the fall will be prepared by Gayla LaGrone’s committee and will feature items from the store. President Jernigan commended the ladies for their creativity and enthusiasm in decorating the front windows.
