A Carthage man died last Wednesday after his vehicle struck a bridge railing and went into a creek embankment, Louisiana State Police said in a news release.
Christopher Jones, 44, died at the scene of the accident.
Police said troopers were called around 3 p.m. Wednesday to U.S. 171 south of Louisiana 3015. A preliminary investigation showed a truck-tractor with attached trailer driven by Jones was traveling north on the road.
“For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the highway, struck a bridge railing, and crashed into the embankment of a creek,” the release said.
It is unknown if Jones was wearing a seatbelt, police said, and a toxicology sample has been submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
