Above and Below: Carthage ISD staff load breakfast and lunch meals onto school buses as part of a district effort to feed its students during the COVID-19 school closure.

Carthage ISD has announced changes to its coronavirus closure meal and assignment programs.

The district is closed through at least May 4. Decisions on subsequent closures will be made on Thursday of each week.

Thursday, April 2 was the last day for student meal delivery.

Parents can submit academic work to teachers by taking pictures of the work and sending it via text message or email to the teacher’s email address.

Teachers and staff will continue to provide academic services remotely and answering campus phones on Thursday and Friday, the district said.

Next Week

The district said grab and go meals would be available at Libby Elementary School on April 6. The meals will include breakfast and lunch for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Also on Monday, April 6, academic work will be placed in normal locations at each campus for parents to pick up.

Buses will not be delivering meals or work. Families who are unable to pick up assignments on Monday or submit completed work on Friday are asked to contact their campus or teacher to arrange for work to be picked up and dropped off.

The district said teachers and staff would provide academic services remotely and campus phones would be answered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

For Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8, parents can submit academic work to teachers by taking pictures of the work and sending it via text message or email to the teacher’s email address.

Grab and go meals will be available on Thursday, April 9 at Libby Elementary School, providing breakfast and lunch for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Carthage ISD will be closed Friday, April 10 for the Good Friday holiday.
