Carthage Fire Department hosts open house

The Carthage Fire Department hosted its open house on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 Attendees were able to meet the local firefighters, Patches and Pumper and Smokey the Bear. A live demonstration using the "jaws of life" was also conducted.

The Carthage Fire Department will hold an open house at the Carthage Fire Station on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Admission is free, and there will also be free hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.

There will be children's fire prevention activities, equipment displays and demonstrations and an opportunity to meet local firefighters along with Patches and Pumper, the fire department's mascots.

The Carthage Fire Station is located at 321 W. Panola in Carthage.
