Carthage City Commission

A regular meeting of the Carthage City Commission will take place Monday, Sept. 9 beginning at 5 p.m. at Carthage City Hall, 812 W. Panola St. in Carthage.

5. Public hearing on ensuing Fiscal Year Budget 2019-2020

6. Approval of budget and adoption of Appropriation Ordinance 

  • an ordinance adopting a budget for the ensuing fiscal year, beginning October 1, 2019 and ending September 30, 2020, in accordance with the charter of the city of Carthage, after public hearing; and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith

7. Adoption of ordinance 

  • an ordinance fixing and levying ad valorem tax for the current year, beginning on the first day of October, 2019, and ending on the thirtieth day of September, 2020, of $.5894 on each $100 of assessed valuation of all real and personal property within the corporate limits of the city of Carthage not exempt from taxes by the constitution and laws of the state of taxes, for the purpose of providing funds for payment of governmental and other municipal expenses, payment of the interest on and to create a sinking fund to pay off outstanding indebtedness of said city, fixing a date when said taxes shall become delinquent, repealing all ordinances in conflict herewith

8. Third and final reading of Ordinance 2019-07 approving a franchise agreement with CenterPoint Energy Texas Gas Operations

  • an ordinance granting to Centerpoint energy resources corp., DBA Centerpoint Energy Texas Gas Operations, the right, privilege and franchise to construct, install, extend, remove, replace, abandon, operate and maintain its facilities within the public rights-of-way of the city of Carthage, Texas for the transportation, delivery, sale and distribution of natural gas; containing other provisions relating to the foregoing subject; providing for severability and providing an effective date.

10. Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2019-10, a sesolution of the city of Carthage, Texas, City Commission authorizing representation in IRS matter and delegating authority to execute Form 2848 IRS Power of Attorney
