William “Billy” Alexander wants to better the roads and serve his community, so he’s running for Panola County Pct. 1 Commissioner.
“I hope to help the county to grow and to do what I can to make it better,” he said.
Ronnie LaGrone, current Pct. 1 commissioner, decided not to run again this year. Alexander is running unopposed in the March 3 primary. He also drew no Democratic opponent.
Alexander is currently the foreman for Precinct 1, so he has experience. Alexander said that he more or less runs the day-to-day operations and makes sure everything gets done for road and bridge in the precinct.
“I already know what’s going on,” Alexander said. “I’ve been here; I know what’s going on, what needs to be done, especially with the roads; it’s kind of helped me out. See I started in September. I come from the constable’s office. I work for Bryan Murff part time, and that job came open in September, so I took it and I kind of know what’s going on, kind of know where I want to go with it, that’s kind of what I’m doing on the roads, trying to get the roads fixed and keeping them maintained.”
He is most looking forward to “really getting the roads fixed and doing what we can to better the county,” as commissioner, he said.
