42 drilling permits have been issued in Panola County since the middle of July, online records from the Texas Railroad Commission show.

Rockcliff Energy Operating was issued 21 drilling permits:

  • three new drill permits for horizontal wells 3.5 miles south of DeBerry on Aug. 12 and 21
  • two new drill permits for horizontal wells 7 miles east of Elysian Fields on Aug. 21
  • five new drill permits for horizontal wells 11.25 miles north of Joaquin on Aug. 25 and 28
  • one new drill permit for a horizontal well 3.5 miles south of DeBerry on Sept. 21
  • four new drill permits for horizontal wells 1.5 miles northwest of DeBerry on Sept. 25
  • six new drill permits for horizontal wells 6 miles southeast of DeBerry on Sept. 24, 28 and 29

M.E. Operating & Services Inc. was issued one drilling permit:

  • one recompletion permit for a vertical well 2.5 miles west of Clayton on Aug. 31

Tanos Exploration II, LLC was issued four drilling permits:

  • two new drill permits for horizontal wells 3.1 miles southwest of Clayton on July 31
  • one new drill permit for a vertical well 2.5 miles southwest of Clayton on July 28
  • one new drill permit for a horizontal well 2.4 miles southwest of Clayton on Oct. 2

Sabine Oil & Gas Corporation was issued six drilling permits:

  • one new drill permit for a horizontal well 17.01 miles northwest of Carthage on Aug. 7
  • three new drill permits for horizontal wells 18 miles southeast of Marshall on Sept. 2
  • two new drill permits for horizontal wells 8.4 miles southeast of DeBerry on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

Sponte Operating Inc. was issued two drilling permits:

  • two new drill permits for horizontal wells 2.1 miles northeast of Tatum on Sept. 14

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. was issued one drilling permit:

  • one new drill permit for a horizontal well 12.5 miles southeast of Carthage on Oct. 6

CRD Operating LLC was issued four drilling permits:

  • one recompletion permit for a vertical well 2.4 miles northeast of Fair Play on Sept. 29
  • one recompletion permit for a directional well 1.8 miles northwest of Clayton on Sept. 28
  • one recompletion permit for a directional well 8.9 miles southwest of Beckville on Sept. 28
  • one recompletion permit for a directional well 11.6 miles northwest of Carthage on Sept. 28

Davis Elite Energy Services LLC was issued one permit:

  • one new drill permit for a vertical well 11.9 miles southeast of Carthage on Oct. 1

High Roller Wells, LLC was issued two permits:

  • two new drill permits for vertical wells 18 miles southeast of Carthage on Oct. 12

The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 437 original drilling permits in September 2020 compared to 796 in September 2019. The September 2020 total includes 371 permits to drill new oil or gas wells, two to re-enter plugged well bores, and 41 for re-completions of existing well bores.

The breakdown of well types for original drilling permits in September 2020 is 112 oil, 41 gas, 252 oil or gas, 11 injection, and 21 other permits.

In September 2020, Commission staff processed 902 oil, 147 gas and 119 injection completions for new drills, re-entries and re-completions, compared to 583 oil, 137 gas, and 27 injection completions in September 2019.

Total well completions processed for 2020 year to date for new drills, re-entries and re-completions are 11,917 compared to 7,074 recorded during the same period in 2019.
