ET Football: Harleton 8, Beckville 6

HARLETON 8, BECKVILLE 6: HARLETON — The Harleton Wildcats opened District 9-3A Division II play with their first win of the season, holding on for an 8-6 win over previously unbeaten Beckville on Friday.

Hunter Wallace scored on a 6-yard run and Garrett Handlin hit J.T. Goynes with a 2-point conversion pass with 9:22 to play in the second quarter to account for all of Harleton’s scoring.

Beckville got on the board with 45 seconds remaining in the first half on a 5-yard run by Stephen Darden, but the two-point conversion failed.

Wallsce carried 22 times for 83 yards to lead the way for Harleton. Handlin passed for 28 yards and rushed for 25 yards.

Trey Lindsay completed 9 of 11 passes for 98 yards in the loss for Beckville. Ethan Harris was 3-for-3 passing for 22 yards while adding 49 yards on 13 carries. Darden caught six passes for 66 yards to go along with 10 carries for 73 yards.

Harleton (1-5, 1-0) will visit West Rusk on Friday. Beckville (5-1, 0-1) will host Arp.
