Veteran's Day ceremony held in Carthage

Nov. 11, 2017 at 9:14 p.m.

The annual Veteran's Day Celebration was held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial near the Old Jail. Guests were welcomed by James McDaniel, American Legion Post 353/VFW Post 5620. Opening prayer was given by David Yarborough with First Baptist Church. McDaniel led the Pledge of Allegiance and Yarborough led the National Anthem. Scott Dyer, US Coast Guard Retired, presented this year's program. The closing prayer was led by Yarborough. Special thanks were offered to Veterans and their families, KGAS Radio, The Panola Watchman, the Panola County Historical and Geniological Assn., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5620, American Legion Post 353, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 353, Sheriff Kevin Lake and the deputies, Panola County Color Guard, the City of Carthage and Knights of Columbus.
