Union Grove TX (12/02)- The Beckville Ladycat basketball team lost their Final game of the Union Grove Tournament to Quitman 43-33. Beckville had 19 offensive rebounds and 24 more chances at the free throw line and was unable to come away with the victory. Tournament basketball is where you should work out your kinks and imperfections. The Ladycats are just struggling with finding a way to put points on the board.

Beckville is getting plenty of second chances with 19 offensive rebounds and 28 attempts at the free throw line they just haven't been able to put the ball in the hole. Beckville has contributions from a vast majority of the team. Jordan Tondreau had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 blocks, and 1 assist. Hannah Humphries was able to put up 8 points on 3 of 3 shooting from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line. She also added 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist. Miranda Mize had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, and 4 assists. Heather Searcy and Brandi Tillman had 3 points each. Searcy had 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks, and 1 assist, Tillman 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Courtlyn Nail, Caroline Pepper, Lainey Coleman combined with 12 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists.

The Ladycats only shot 18% from the field, 0-2 from the outside, and were 11-28 from the free throw line. This is early in the year and with the Volleyball team making such a deep run these girls are just getting their feet we when it comes to basketball. With the athletes that Beckville has there is no doubt they just need to continue to fight and play team basketball.

Beckville now 4-6 on the season will be at home Tuesday 12/5 against the Sabine Lady Cardinals 5-2. The JV will begin at 4:30 with the Varsity to Follow.
