Union Grove TX (11/30/17) - The Beckville Ladycat basketball team found themselves in a deep hole after the 1st period Friday against the host team Union Grove. Union Grove would put up 25 points to Beckville's 8. This would prove to be too much for the Ladycats to overcome and they would fall 56-35 in the first round of the Union Grove Tournament.

Beckville has had trouble with turnovers and this game would be no different. The Ladycats would turn it over 29 times in the game. Although Beckville would out rebound Union Grove 36-22, with 13 of those being offensive rebounds, the turnovers would negate any chance Beckville had to win. Beckville only shot 29% from the field and 38% from 3-point land. They were 9-20 from the free throw line.

Jordan Tondreau, 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, would lead all Ladycats in scoring. Payton Jones and Miranda Mize would have 6 points a-piece. Mize had 1 steal and 4 rebounds, while Jones had 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Beckville's Brandi Tillman had 4 points, Lainey Coleman 3, Heather Searcy 2, Kenzi Latham and Hannah Humphries had 1 each.

The Lose brought Beckville's record to 4-5 and their next game would be Friday (12/01) at 4 PM against Avinger.
