After the first week of football practice, Beckville head coach Mike Bickham said so far, so good.
"It's going great," Bickham said. "The kids are really high energy. They've got a great attitude. They're working hard. We're having fun which is our main goal: to get out there and have fun. The first three days have been great. The weather has been great. That probably helps with the attitude and everything. Our kids are doing exactly what we've asked them to do. We're getting better defensively. We're putting in a new scheme. Our kids are picking up things real well."
The Bearcats are replacing all but one player in the secondary, so Bickham expects it to take time for that area of the team to get to where it needs to be. But he believes it will come together and adds his offense is in pretty good shape.
"I think our offensive line is going to be real good," he said. "We have a lot of returning starters there and they know the game well. They're the kind of kids who like to get after it and kind of be nasty up in there. Of course our quarterback, Trey Lindsay, we're going to go as he goes. He's a pretty talented player. We're looking for some young kids to step up at receiver, so, if that happens, I think we have a pretty good chance to be really good offensively."
Beckville is scheduled to scrimmage at home against Ore City Friday.
