The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Show has cancelled its upcoming John Ritter Showcase Auditions and Hall of Fame Show, planned July 11 and August 6-7 respectively, because of the recent spike in coronavirus cases and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to add new restrictions in response.
“We hope that you understand how hard this decision has been on our team and that it is for your safety as well as the safety of our entertainers, staff and volunteers,” President Tommie Ritter Smith said. “Please join us next year on Aug. 14 and 15 for a big celebration. We will make every effort for it to be the best ever.”
Smith said the new restrictions make it impossible for the Hall of Fame to put on the kind of shows it is used to doing every year.
