Advanced dance students from Rowe Performing Arts & Gym had a victorious competition season in 2018-19 under the director of Debbie Rowe, Juliet Townzen and Emily Roberson.

They are Constance Barber, Taylor Barton, Brooke Cabello, Sydney Robin, Mary Katherine Smith, Kipton Travis and Molly Windham.

The dancers won the highest honor given for their age division at the Dance Showcase Regional Competition in Houston and at the Triumph National Talent Competition in Baton Rouge. At both competitions, the girls took home first place with a ballet dance to “Redeemer” and a second place award with a jazz routine to “Bang Bang.”

Three dancers from the group also won national awards: Sydney Robin, of Carthage; Kipton Travis, of Carthage; and Molly Windham, of Shelbyvillle. These honors, part of the National Federation of Music Club’s Agnes Fowler Junior Dance Awards, are adjudicated by a panel of nationally-qualified judges.

Sydney Robin is the daughter of Scotty and Dawn Robin. She was awarded first place and $200 in the Junior I Theater Dance category for her clogging and second place and $100 in the Junior I Ballet category.

Kipton Travis is the daughter of Jeff and Amber Travis. She was awarded second place and $100 in the Junior I Theater Dance category for her jazz routine.

Molly Windham is the daughter of Micah and Claire Windham. She was awarded second place and $200 in the Junior II Theater Dance category for her jazz and gymnastics dance.

The Junior I category is for students ages 11-14. The Junior II category is for students aged 15-18 and is judged on a more advanced level.

Most of these girls have been dancing together for 10 years or more, and they have a real passion for dance. They continue to strive for excellence in their dance skills.

Rowe Performing Arts is proud of all the accomplishments of these young ladies. It is an honor to have these regional and national awards brought back to our part of East Texas.
