Wall of Fame

The City of Carthage held a special ceremony Wednesday, July 8, 2020 to welcome the new African-American Wall of Fame in the Cook’s Quarters neighborhood.

The Panola County African-American Wall of Fame is expanding, with Omowali Lumumba seeking more nominees who should be honored on the monument.

The wall currently honors more than 200 Black community members who have made an extraordinary contribution to Panola County.

Lumumba says he is looking for more names of people who have been on the same job for 20 years or more; teachers; nurses; doctors; clergy; athletes; police officers; active-duty servicemembers; veterans and more who should be added to the wall.

Call Omowali Lumumba at (903) 263-6698.
