Cook's Quarters outdoor museum gets new billboards

Two new double-sided, 20-foot billboards of Panola County African-American historical events, both past and present, are being added to the outdoor museum in Cook’s Quarters.

Two new double-sided, 20-foot billboards of Panola County African-American historical events, both past and present, are being added to the outdoor museum in Cook’s Quarters.

Omowali Lumumba says the new billboards consist of stories from the Watchman and Panola Crossroads magazine, and he is looking for any past or present articles about African-Americans in Panola County.

Those wishing to submit articles should submit them to him to be added to the billboards, by calling (903) 263-6698.

“My purpose for these new billboards are to make visible to the public, again, Panola Watchman newspaper and Panola Crossroads magazine articles that were written and documented about African-Americans who made positive contributions to Panola County.
