Janet McGough Reddell and Jessica Derrick, auxiliary sponsors for the Carthage High School Battling Bulldog Band, are seeking Carthage High School twirling and flag alumni for a special performance with the current lines at the 2019 Homecoming game.
“This will be a short and extremely simple routine for our alumni to join in with our current lines.” Reddell said. “Carthage High School twirlers and flags have had such a strong tradition, along with the Bulldog Band, and celebrating that at Homecoming will be so special for everyone.”
Carthage has had a band program for more than 80 years, with a twirling line for more than 70 of those years. A flag line at Carthage High School has been a part of the band for more than 40 years.
An optional practice is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. at the stadium followed with the performance on Friday, Oct. 18 at halftime. If alumni don’t have a baton, one will be provided. The routine will be available online to learn remotely if alumni are out of town and unable to attend the practice.
Reddell and Derrick request that anyone who wants to participate sign up by using the link on the CHS Auxiliary Alumni Facebook page.
Those who do not use Facebook, can contact Janet Reddell at (281) 635-6917, Cindy Deloney at (903) 736-2273 or Jessica Derrick at (903) 754-0061. By calling or texting the contacts and giving your name and email address, alumni will receive an email with the link to fill out the form.
A pre-game reception with former band directors will be held before the homecoming game at 5:30 p.m. in the Carthage High School Commons Area. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the Band Boosters. Even if alumni don’t perform, all past twirling and flag line members are invited to attend.
