A 2006 Carthage High School graduate has been promoted to major within the U.S. Air Force.
Cody L. Works is an operations officer at the All Hazards Coordination Center, National Guard Bureau J316 at the Tyler Armed Forces Reserve Center in Tyler, where he oversees a $20 million weapon system for join and nationwide communications operations.
Works was commissioned in 2010 at Texas A&M University. His previous assignments include stations at Joint Andrews Base, Air Forces Central Command A6 at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Barksdale AFB and Hensley Field Air Guard Station.
He has been awarded the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster and the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster.
Works's promotion to major was effective March 24, and he took part in a promotion ceremony on Sept. 6 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Tyler, with Lt. Colonel Michael Torres officiating.
