Sammy Brown Library plans outdoor fun
The Sammy Brown Library is hosting a jump rope challenge at the Ballpark Walking Trail through Saturday.
"This is a great activity for getting the kids outdoors," the library said in announcing the program. "It is also convenient if your family is already at the ballpark. Check out the jump rope challenges we have posted along the walking trail. You can bring your own jump rope, but some will also be available at the start of the walking trail."
Panola College Band to perform Sunday
The Panola College Band will take a "Trip Around the World" Sunday at its annual spring concert, beginning at 3 p.m. on the campus quad.
The concert will feature the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Drumline and ensembles. The band also plans to recognize sophomores who will be leaving the college after this semester.
Everyone is invited.
Shriners to host fundraiser on May 7
The Panola County Shrine Club will host their annual fundraiser for the Shriners Children's Hospital on May 7. Shriners will be out on street corners in Carthage to collect donations.
The Shrine Club was not able to host a fundraiser last year because of COVID, and this year's event will only take place on one day.
Bulldog Belles show is May 8
The Bulldog Belles will perform their spring show on May 8 and May 9 at the Carthage High School Performing Arts Center.
Performances are set for 6:30 p.m. May 8 and 3 p.m. May 9. Admission is free.
This year's theme is "Let's Go to the Movies."
Bake sale fundraiser planned
The Carthage High School Class of 2009 is hosting a bake sale to raise money for tornado relief from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at Tractor Supply in Carthage.
Available treats will include brownies, pies, cookies and whole desserts like sopapilla cheesecake.
Donation buckets have also been placed at Pony Express, ABC Auto, the Texas Tea Room and Auto Express Lube.
Sign-up now for CLEE Camp
Registraton is open for Excellent TEEN Choice's CLEE Camp through May 7. This camp is free for high school and junior high school students.
The camp focuses on character, leadership, education and young entrepreneurs and will take place Wednesdays in June.
