A DeBerry man was arrested Thursday after the Panola County Sheriff’s Office says he ran over a woman with a car last week.

Ezell Washington has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Panola County Detention Center, Panola County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Ivy said. His bond has been set at $75,000.

The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call Tuesday, Oct. 6 from a woman saying she was run over by a vehicle in the DeBerry area, Ivy said.

The woman was found on the roadway on County Road 3202 a short time later, and deputies saw multiple injuries including various cuts and abrasions on her arms, legs, and face and possible other injuries to her neck and back. She was taken to a nearby hospital by Life Air to be treated, Ivy said.

Investigators developed a suspect and later obtained a warrant, Ivy said, and Washington was arrested Thursday Oct. 15.

The case is still being investigated, Ivy said.
