Students who do not have access to a computer or internet are being asked to respond to a survey that will be sent to all students by Tuesday, March 24. The district will use the survey to distribute Chromebooks to students who need them in light of state-mandated school closures through April 4 due to the COVID-19 virus.
The district includes Panola Charter High School and Panola Early College High School in Carthage and Texas Early College High School in Marshall.
Chromebooks will be distributed on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27. A checkout contract will be required.
The district said, as of now, graduation ceremonies set for May 23 are still happening.
For students taking dual credit courses at Panola College, the district said they should be ready to resume those classes on Monday, March 30 per guidelines issued Wednesday.
“Each decision regarding this event is in the best interest of the safety of the students and staff in mind,” Superintendent Bud Worley said. “They have not been taken lightly as we realize that these are major changes for our students. We will strive to provide what students need to complete their semester successfully.”
