Nearly 4 inches of rainfall was recorded in Carthage during this week's storms, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
Carthage recorded 3.89 inches of rainfall at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. A location 8.2 miles northeast of Carthage recorded 3.62 inches of rainfall at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
A flood warning continued for the Sabine River near Beckville for late Friday night to Monday morning, the NWS said Thursday. At 7:45 a.m. Thursday, the river was 21.5 feet high. Flood stage is 26 feet, and the forecast called for the Sabine River to crest at 26.3 feet by Saturday early afternoon.
Impacts of that flooding are expected to be minor lowland flooding, the NWS said. The National Weather Service said the river is expected to fall below flood stage Sunday.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the National Weather Service said more rain was on its way, but severe weather would not appear.
"Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain forecast for Monday and Tuesday across the region, but currently there are no expectations of severe weather or significant heavy rain issues," the NWS said.
