A Carthage woman died last week when her car hit a truck-trailer on the Carthage Loop, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
Hylari Pajh Broadway, 25, of Carthage died as a result of the crash, Sgt. Jean Dark said.
Troopers were called around 4:39 p.m. May 20 to the Carthage Loop for a two-vehicle crash, Dark said.
A preliminary report shows that the driver of a truck-trailer was traveling west on U.S. 79 and had stopped at a railroad crossing, Dark said. A vehicle also traveling west behind the truck-trailer “failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the towed trailer,” Dark said.
The driver of the truck was identified as Sanel Skopak, 40, of Katy. Skopak was not injured in the crash, Dark said. Broadway was taken to UT Health Carthage, where she was pronounced dead, Dark said.
The crash remains under investigation.
