Original Story: One man was hurt in a Wednesday night shooting on MLK Boulevard in Carthage, Assistant Police Chief Blake Smith said.

No arrests have been made in the case. Smith said Friday the last update on the man's condition he had was that the man had been hospitalized.

Police were called to the 700 block of MLK Boulevard around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Smith said. Officers found a man lying in a front yard with a gunshot wound and immediately started to provide CPR.

The man was taken to UT Health Carthage and later flown to UT Health Tyler.

Several law enforcement agencies have provided assistance in the investigation, Smith said: the Panola County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers.

Smith said the case continues to be investigated.
